As you have no doubt heard by now, our favorite pink-decked, golden-tressed, busty-breasted doll is a newly-minted Yoga Teacher. Though not yet confirmed by Yoga Alliance, Barbie's 200-hour certification is believed to come from MattelWorks Exhale Core Power Studios. The news was met amongst the yoga set with dismay, spoofdom, and conflicted emotions.

To you, I ask:

If you prick Barbiji, does she not bleed? If you tickle her, does she not laugh? If you poison her, will she not die? And if you wrong her, shall she not revenge?

(*aside* Dear God and Mr. Shakespeare, Please don't smite me for this semi-bastardization of The Merchant of Venice. I only seek to construct a point. Love, Lo)

6 reasons i don't teach yoga

If there's one question I receive on the regular, it's:

"Do you teach yoga?"

Or some variant thereof. (i.e., Where do you teach? Are you teaching yet? Why aren't you teaching?)

My answer has become pull-string. "Well, I've completed 200 hours of teacher training and have been practicing since age 15, but I never had any intention of teaching. I did YTT for me, for the journey."

That's the short answer. This is the long, FUN, REAL one:

Spring has sprung and the peeps are feeling frightfully frisky. They've also noticed an undefinable malaise, a particular lack of humor, and a general un-fun-ness in the yoga world lately. We feel that it is not only our responsibility, but our pleasure to bring the FUNK. Without further ado, it's ON like Peepy Kong!

At our annual pre-Easter powwow, the peeps and I put our bunny ears together, twitched our mischievous noses, and gleefully reenacted the biggest downdog dramatics so far this year:

6 ways yoga is like dating

Modern yoga. Your average studio, USA. Hotbed of personalities, overflowing psychological baggage, and good old fashioned red-bloodedness. MICROCOSM!

Somewhere out there, a rousing howl pierces the spiritual silence. A yogi pounds his chest. A yogini tosses her mane.

1. All Dressed Up — Ass check in the mirror. Makeup spackled. Dudes be upping their game. Hair mussed just so. Smelling like the Bloomie's homme counter. When was the last time we wore our holey (as in full o' holes, not godly/holy) tees and threadbare sweats?
2. Wanting Physical Contact — Touch. Me. Three words for you: feel-good adjustment. Being touched makes us feel seen.
3. Don't Do Anything Uncouth — We try our best not to embarrass ourselves. We have an impression to make! No burping, gas passing, falling, tripping, awkward outbursts, or anything else that might kill the illusion. Nothing ruins the mood like bad manners.
4. Listen More, Talk Less — When a mouth is open and yammering, the brain cannot learn and the spirit can't find the simple space to connect.
5. Pay — We'll have none of this 'go dutch' b.s. Open your wallet, be generous.
6. Everybody is (Secretly) Looking Forward to Savasana — It is on the menu. Wink, wink.
